Dynamic Positioning System (DP1)
The dynamic positioning system automatically controls a vessel's heading and position by activating thrusters using data from position-reference systems, gyrocompasses, wind sensors and motion-reference units. Its Auto Track mode lets the ship follow a pre-defined track at low speed. The DP1 system provides automatic heading control and manual positioning based on gyrocompass and wind-sensor data, and is suited to supply vessels, tugs, dredgers, cable- and pipe-laying vessels, FPSOs, heavy-lift vessels and mega-yachts, in full accordance with the LRS standard.
