Engines and Diesel Generators
The Marine Industries Organization, with its manufacturing and production industries as well as its design offices and technology-development centers, and a broad scientific and industrial network both inside and outside the country, is responsible for the design, development and supply of the marine equipment and machinery needed for the propulsion of various types of marine vessels. The most important products of this group include light and heavy marine diesel engines, simple and combined marine gearboxes, various marine propulsion systems, various marine propellers such as surface-piercing and semi-submerged propellers, as well as marine equipment such as various marine pumps.
This group comprises the following major divisions:
Propulsion Design Office
Light Marine Diesel Engine and Gearbox Manufacturing Industries
Propulsion System and Propeller Manufacturing Industries
Heavy Diesel Manufacturing Industries.
1- BMI 4000 Marine Engine
The BMI 4000 marine engine is an indigenized engine in the heavy marine-engine class. The base engine is the RK215 railway diesel engine, which has been designed and produced taking into account all marine standards for use in various marine vessels of medium and heavy duty.
Among the unique features of this engine, besides its indigenous production, are its constant torque at the engine’s various operating speeds and its good performance under harsh weather conditions.
2- D87 National Engine (D87 engines)
The D87 national engine family can use alternative fuel in dual-fuel and 100% dual-fuel modes; the engines have railway, power-plant and marine applications.
3- BMI G380 Marine Diesel
The BMI G380 marine diesel is one of the indigenous products with good operating efficiency based on marine standards, suitable for use in various patrol, passenger and cargo vessels for generating electrical power.
4- BMD 900 Marine Engine
The BMD900 marine engine has been indigenized domestically through an upgrade and re-purposing method for use in marine vessels, and it is in every respect suitable for use in marine vessels up to 900 hp. Among the engine’s upgrades is an improvement of its heat exchanger and ECU; notable features include constant torque at the engine’s various operating speeds, good performance under harsh weather conditions, and the use of 24-volt electrical power.
