The VTS simulator is an efficient system for controlling radar, video and AIS surveillance, communication, recording, database maintenance and documentation. Its equipment and software allow all the main VTS functions to be imitated, and the navigation-bridge equipment enables control of ships and generation of training scenarios and tasks. Managing vessel traffic in ports, harbours and coastal areas demands sufficient safety and security; supporting these operations requires a management system to train operators. The VTS simulator trains personnel to handle shore-based ship radio-communication services and to use radar and communication equipment through a computer-simulation system.

This simulator guarantees the high level of VTS training required to meet international navigation standards and can be used under different operating conditions; all simulated VTS workstations are based on the real VTS software actually used.
