We Are Starting to Build 3,500-HP Waterjet Propulsion Engines
On the sidelines of the unveiling ceremony of the “National Waterjet” propulsion system, held at Sharif University, Rear Admiral Amir Rastegari, head of the Marine Industries Organization, said: today we build power-transmission units and automatic and manual gearboxes domestically, and we can cooperate with automakers in this field.
He continued: today we have built eight-speed, eight-ratio systems for the industries we need, and we can design, produce and localize vehicle transmission systems in both manual and automatic forms. This design and production will be at least 30 percent below the global price.
In another part of his remarks about the unveiled waterjet propulsion system, the head of the Marine Industries Organization said: this engine produces 1,020 horsepower and can be used in medium-sized vessels.
Stating that the production line of the national waterjet propulsion system has been launched, Rear Admiral Rastegari added: in the near future we will begin designing and building propulsion engines with a power of 3,500 horsepower.
