According to the public relations of the Marine Industries Organization, the ceremony was attended by Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, Chief of Staff and Coordinating Deputy of the Army; Rear Admiral Amir Rastegari, head of the Marine Industries Organization; and a number of officials of the Iranian Association of Naval Engineering.

This conference is held in Qeshm for three days starting 11 Dey, with the aim of highlighting the importance and status of the marine industries in the country’s economy and paying attention to foresight, futures research and documentation in the field of marine activities, and to policymaking and strategic planning in line with the macro-policies of the establishment.

Other themes of this three-day conference include: the issues and problems of the executive bodies of marine agencies and related centers; examining solutions and executive methods with regard to existing challenges and opportunities for the regional development of the country’s seas, coasts and islands; attracting a greater share of the international marine-industry markets for domestic factories and related industries; accelerating the implementation of regulations — especially the Law on Supporting the Development of Marine Industries — and removing obstacles; further familiarizing officials and the public with the marine industries and their issues; pursuing ways to make maximum use of the capacity of domestic industries; becoming acquainted with the programs and views of the country’s executive and legislative officials regarding the marine industries; reviewing and critiquing the actions, issues and problems of the marine industries from the perspective of all related agencies and centers; presenting the latest scientific and technological achievements in the marine and allied industries; expanding international interactions to develop regional and global cooperation and to conduct scientific and technological diplomacy; and attention to foresight, futures research and documentation in marine activities and to policymaking and strategic planning in line with the establishment’s macro-policies.

The specialized themes of this conference are the design and construction of vessels and marine equipment, advanced materials engineering and new marine technologies, marine logistics and transport, oceanography, fisheries and marine biotechnology.
