According to the public relations of the Marine Industries Organization, Rear Admiral Rastegari, head of the organization, told reporters: today, in the presence of the Minister of Defense and the police commander, a number of Heydar-class vessels were delivered to the police border guard. He added: all the design and construction stages of the Heydar-class vessels have been carried out by the specialists of the Marine Industries Organization; these vessels have excellent hydrodynamic capability and speed and very high operational features. Rastegari noted: the Heydar-class vessels are able to maintain balance in all weather conditions and have been built in accordance with the operational needs of the police of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and they are capable of carrying out patrol, reconnaissance and pursuit operations as well as marine search and rescue. The head of the marine organization went on to refer to the special capabilities of the Heydar-class vessels and said: this vessel is able to carry out missions in various weather conditions, including fog, rain, storms and severe storms, and it also has the power and capability to operate up to sea force 8 — that is, weather conditions with winds exceeding 70 km/h. He continued: this vessel has very high stability and, even if it tilts to the side at an angle of more than 90 to 180 degrees, it quickly returns to a balanced position and by no means sinks in a stormy sea, which is a very important and outstanding feature. Among the other important systems of the Heydar-class vessel is its national waterjet propulsion system, built by marine-industry specialists, which gives this vessel very good maneuverability and very high speed, and it can operate in deep and semi-deep waters at speeds of up to about 70 km/h. Rastegari noted: another special capability of the Heydar-class vessels is maneuverability in shallow waters; another technology used in this vessel is the shock- and vibration-absorbing seats, which — given this vessel’s presence in stormy and rough seas — can absorb the vibration and shock caused by waves striking the vessels and can reduce the acceleration imposed on personnel by up to 4.4 G. He added: the navigation and navigation-aid system as well as the domestic shaft-and-propeller system are among the other features of this vessel; with this measure by the Marine Industries Organization there is a 40 percent saving in foreign currency, and more than 70 percent of the equipment used in this vessel is built by the Marine Industries Organization, the defense-industry organizations and domestic knowledge-based companies. With the entry of the Heydar-class vessels into the coast-guard fleet of the police of the Islamic Republic of Iran, this force’s combat capability in territorial and exclusive economic waters has increased significantly.
