According to the public relations of the Marine Industries Organization, Rear Admiral Rastegari, head of the organization, visited the Iranian Classification Society in order to assess its technical and scientific capacity and to become more closely acquainted with the knowledge-based activities of the country’s classification industry.

During the visit, a report was presented on the process and manner of producing technical standards, assessing and approving vessel designs, classification and statutory surveys of ships, training services and technology transfer, and other activities and achievements of the country’s marine experts and elites in the field of survey and classification; and areas of cooperation and of drawing on domestic technical-capacity services in the major plans and programs managed by the Marine Industries Organization — chief among them the Marine Industry Transformation Plan — were examined and agreed upon.

Also, in order to create synergy and make joint use of scientific and technical achievements, it was agreed that technical and specialist committees and scientific cores tailored to the needs of the country’s industry would be formed and that holding joint specialized courses, seminars and workshops would be placed on the agenda.

During the visit, Rear Admiral Rastegari, expressing his satisfaction with the successful domestic indigenization of the services needed by the country’s marine industries, the prevention of currency outflow and self-sufficiency in the classification industry, emphasized joint interaction and the enhancement of the technical and engineering standards for building vessels and marine equipment by drawing on the capacities of the Iranian Classification Society.
